Man demands justice over mother's death allegedly caused by Police

A middle aged man, Mr Chukwunenye Nweke has called on the Inspector General of Police, Mr Tunji Disu, to order a proper investigation to unravel the cause of his mother’s death, he alleged to have cause by unprofessional conduct of police officer from the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID), Awka at the Umudioka’s family home in Awka in 2013.

Nweke allerged that his mother died of shock after the yet-to-identified police officers sponsored by one Dr Mrs Aguiyi Anulli Aihuomah and others unlawfully invaded their home to arrest him between 23rd February 2013 to 13th March, 2013 in allegation of attempted kidnapping, cyber-bullying and stalking on the above mentioned persons

He described the allegations as false, misleading, fabricated, fraudulent and defamatory and should therefore be treated as such by the public.

Nweke call was contained in a statement tagged; “Re: Response to controversies surrounding alleged Police statement papers dated 22nd March 2013, he personally signed and made available to Journalists in Awka on Tuesday.

According to him, the incident I described as “manslaughter” has left the entire Nweke’s family into unforgettable agony, pains and sorrow.

He said this press statement is issued to address the controversies surrounding certain police statement papers dated 22nd March, 2013 which some police officers attached to Zone 13 Police Headquarters in Anambra State have allegedly presented as a true and accurate account of event.

“I, Mr. Chukwunenye Nweke of Umudioka village, wish to categorically state to the general public and the international community that I am not and have never been a fugitive from the law.

“At no time in the year 2013 did I go into hiding or evade arrest by officers of the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID), Awka.

The Police statement papers in which I was allegedly described as a fugitive from police arrest by the state CID Awka in connection with the above mentioned allegations are false and misleading and should therefore be treated as such by the public.

“I challenge any police officer or individual who holds a contrary position to my assertion to publicly disclose, release or publish the comprehensive police investigation report conducted on this matter by the State CID, Awka in 2013.

“Any person or police who insists that the documents portraying me as a fugitive from arrest on 23rd February 2013 are genuine must substantiate such claims by producing the certified true copy of the comprehensive police investigation report issued by the Anambra State Police Command, State CID, Awka in 2013.

“Until such credible and verifiable evidence is produced, the allegations portraying me as a fugitive should be regarded as baseless, unfounded and malicious.

“This press statement is therefore issued in the interest of truth, justice and the protection of my reputation as the matter under police investigation by Inspector Yomi Laurence, Monitoring Unit, Zone 13 Ukpo continued.

“I want justice for my late mother and other ill-treatement melted to other members of my family.

Nweke appealed to the Inspector General, IGP Disu to compel CSP Lalla Bitrus of Crack Squad Zone 9 Umuahia, Abia State to Anambra State to proof his innocent and to enable him armed himself against subsequent harassment from the police, Mrs Aguiyi Anulli Aihuomah and others in Awka.
