2027: We need servant leadership to revive Nigeria’s economy and restore public trust - Ebube Muonso

The Spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Ebube Muonso, has called for servant leadership at the highest levels of government to revive Nigeria’s economy and restore public trust.

Fr. Obimma, who is also the Parish Priest of Blessed Iwene Tansi Catholic Church, Umudioka, Dunukofia local government area of Anambra State, made the call during an interview with journalists at his Parish Office, on Sunday, May 2nd, 2026.

Speaking on Nigeria’s leadership crisis, he said the country is operating on a “horrible paradigm” because of poor governance from the Presidency down. There’s need for a Paradigm Shift in our polity for the desired change.

“We need someone that can change the paradigm. Those in leadership are not doing well at all, starting from the presidency. Someone who is not grounded cannot take the country far.

“A new Nigeria is possible only with a leader of solid character who can influence the system from the top. “Some people at lower levels have good projections, but because they are not president, they cannot change anything. We are looking for a sound economy, and the strength of any society is a strong economy. And Peter Obi is the only man qualified for that seat,” he noted.

On the state of security in Anambra state, the cleric said he has spent a fortune on security and thanked the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for his bold steps in curbing insecurity. He urged government at all levels to adopt more proactive measures to make Anambra State and Nigeria more livable.

“I thank Mr Governor for listening to me after my ordeal in the den of kidnappers by setting up Udo ga achi security outfit. To a reasonable extent, insecurity has subsided a great deal in Anambra State. I am so glad for that and I urge the governor not to rest on his oars,” he added.

Fr. Obimma condemned the trend of staged miracles, saying those who engage in them lack the Spirit of God and arrogate power to themselves. He further admonished that those men of God should stop saying what God did not say. He noted that the spiritual realm governs the physical, and that certain heights in life require divine intervention.

“I always tell people I’m not a miracle worker, but God is the Miracle Worker. When a man of God is living a life of sacrifice, miracles must be a permanent visitor. As you know, the spiritual controls the physical. There are things you cannot get in this life except by divine intervention. That’s why we need Him; He has the power to do all things,” he said.

He underscored the indispensable role of prayer and divine intervention in achieving true success, cautioning against excessive self-reliance and the growing trend of staged miracles among some religious leaders.

The ministry according to Ebube Muonso is currently observing a 90-day prayer session seeking the face of God, with testimonies already recorded since it began and plans to undertake a 30-day fast without food in early July, noting that personal discipline is essential for effective spiritual impact. He reiterated that spiritual matters are divinely guided and not subject to human control or fabrication.

‎Rather than advocating punitive measures against erring clerics, Fr. Obimma called for repentance and a return to sincere devotion. He also commended the Catholic Church for its emphasis on authenticity, which he said continues to attract large congregations, particularly during Sunday Masses and special prayer programmes.

Earlier at the Mass in the church marking Father’s Day celebration, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra State chapter, honored Fr. Obimma with the Distinguished Charismatic Cleric Award.

The NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika, said the recognition was for his charismatic disposition, philanthropic efforts, and commitment to humanity and divine service.

Presenting the award, the Chairperson of the State Chapter of NAWOJ, Comrade Tochukwu Ifejika described Rev. Fr. Obimma as a servant of God whose service to God and humanity have been transforming lives and winning souls for Christ. She also commended his courage, humility and commitment in using his personal resources to touch lives, urging him not to relent.

“Fr. Obimma is a steadfast servant of God full of humanity. His charisma, philanthropy, and full commitment using personal resources to touch lives is worthy of recognition. Ebube Muo Nso, your courage, humility and commitment in using your personal resources to touch lives ate top notch and we are encouraging you not to relent for God is with you and he’ll not forsake you,” she stated.

Responding, Fr. Ebube Muonso appreciated the award and promised to hold NAWOJ members in prayers, while charging them to be objective in discharging their duties of disseminating news and information to the public.

Earlier in his Fathering Sunday sermon on the theme “Rejected for Promotion,” Fr. Obimma outlined three pillars of fatherhood: wisdom, provision, and compassion.

“Wisdom brings understanding and distinction, its absence invites trouble. Whenever you do anything, have the fear of God. Those who do so are wise,” he charged.

‎He equally urged women to prioritize inner beauty, as character triumphs over looks in marriage, and warned against sharing private marital issues with third parties, which harms the home.

“Marriage is sacred, a lifelong commitment needing time and a strong foundation. Most breakdowns stem from ignoring due process, as a couple you have to imbibe patience and perseverance. A surviving man stays steadfast, undistracted; the wise evade disgrace,” he emphazized.

‎While thanking God for the parishioners’ lives, he urged faithfulness and charged men to lead compassionately, drop grudges, and fulfill family duties. He also commended the members of NAWOJ for the honour bestowed upon him, and offered prayers for divine enablement and wisdom for the association to attain greater heights.

‎He concluded by urging all faithfuls, irrespective of denominational differences, to embrace the message of Christ and allow Him to guide their lives.
