The Cross River State Consultative Forum (CRSCF) has extended its congratulations to all the candidates who emerged victorious in the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections for the State House of Assembly, National Assembly, and Governorship positions.

In a statement issued in Calabar on Saturday, May 23, 2026, the socio-political advocacy and think-tank group praised the smooth conduct of the shadow elections, describing it as a milestone for internal democracy in the state.

The Forum particularly lauded the state party leadership, under the guidance of Hon. Chris Sunny Etta, for delivering an exercise that has been widely recognized for its transparency and adherence to democratic ideals.

According to the statement, “The successful conduct of the primaries demonstrates the growing maturity of the democratic process within the party and further reinforces Cross River State’s reputation as one of the most politically stable states in the federation.”

The CRSCF also paid tribute to the state governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, noting that his dedication to party cohesion remains a vital stabilizing force within the APC and the wider political arena of Cross River State.

As the state transitions into the next phase of the political season, the group urged the victorious flagbearers to focus on people-oriented politics. It called on all candidates to “sustain issue-based engagement, maintain close ties with the grassroots, and prioritize policies and programmes that directly impact the welfare of the people.”

Recognizing that primary elections can sometimes leave internal fractures, the Forum appealed to all aspirants, party faithful, and stakeholders to accept the results in good faith. It emphasized that the ultimate goal remains the collective progress, peace, and sustainable development of the state.

The statement, jointly signed by the Forum Chairman, Barr. Eyo Nsa Ekpo, and the Secretary, Dr. Julius Ochim Okputu, concluded by acknowledging the losing aspirants whose participation “enriched the electoral process and strengthened internal democracy within the party.”

The Forum, therefore, reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to constructive policy advocacy aimed at driving social, political, and economic growth across the state and Nigeria.
