Political leaders from Abi Local Government Area on Sunday held a strategic meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Cross River Central Senatorial District, Hon. Oden Ewa, to discuss the future of the constituency and the need for greater political cooperation.
The delegation was led by Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo, the APC candidate for the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. According to Lebo, the discussions provided a platform for frank, constructive and forward-looking talks on strengthening unity, deepening political cooperation and prioritising the collective interests of the people.
“As leaders, we have a responsibility to look beyond the politics of today and begin to build a stronger foundation for tomorrow. Our people deserve purposeful representation, effective leadership and a political direction that is firmly anchored on development, inclusion and the advancement of our communities,” Lebo said.

He noted that the deliberations focused on the aspirations of the people of Abi, the challenges facing the communities, and the opportunities that could arise from sincere collaboration. The leaders also stressed the need to build bridges among political stakeholders and present a united front capable of delivering meaningful results.
Lebo expressed appreciation to Hon. Oden Ewa for the warm reception and openness shown during the engagement. “His commitment to the future of our constituency is encouraging, and I am confident that greater collaboration among our leaders will yield positive outcomes,” he stated.
Receiving the delegation at his residence in Ugep, Hon. Oden Ewa thanked them for the visit, and expressed his sincere desire to work collaboratively for the good of every community in the senatorial district.
Meanwhile, the senatorial flag bearer had earlier expressed confidence in the APC’s electoral prospects, attributing it to Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s deep understanding of governance and administration. “APC will deliver; we have a Governor that understands the system,” Ewa declared.
He said political stakeholders and supporters across Yakurr and the entire Central Senatorial District were working hard to mobilise maximum support with the goal of securing the highest volume of votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Bassey Edet Otu and all APC candidates.
Ewa maintained that the governor’s commendable performance, combined with his widespread public acceptability and goodwill, has positioned the party to make a clean sweep across the state in the 2027 general elections.
