How Cross River-born tech innovator is building Africa's rapidly evolving technology infrastructure

LAGOS, NIGERIA — Driven by a dynamic generation of concerts, festivals, corporate conferences, cultural showcases, and sporting events, Africa’s experience economy is undergoing rapid expansion. As public demand for live entertainment and curated gatherings surges across the continent, tech innovator Louis Bassey – a Cross River State native – is positioning his technology firm to build the digital backbone supporting this growth.

Through his platform, Fewticket, the founder and CEO is addressing a long-standing challenge in the African events sector: fragmented operational technology. While the continent boasts a rich array of cultural and commercial activities, event organisers have traditionally relied on disconnected tools to handle ticketing, attendee registration, digital check-ins, payment processing, and performance analytics.

Fewticket aims to consolidate these services into a single unified ecosystem. Beyond standard online ticket purchasing, the platform offers integrated guest management, real-time analytics, and localized distribution tools, including direct ticket purchasing through WhatsApp, flexible multi-currency processing, and digital ticket delivery across diverse African markets.

Since debuting its operations in September 2025, Fewticket has achieved measurable scale across the regional ecosystem. The technology platform has powered over 300 events, processed more than one million ticket sales, and built an active user base surpassing 100,000 monthly users.

Its software has serviced high-profile lifestyle and industry gatherings across Nigeria and West Africa, including FunFest, The Big Picnic, the Model ECOWAS Summit, and the Women in DeFi Summit.

“Africa does not lack experiences. We have incredible culture, entertainment, tourism, creativity, and communities,” Bassey said. “The opportunity now is to build the technology that connects these experiences to more people, more seamlessly and at greater scale.”

The firm’s long-term strategy extends beyond conventional event management tools. Fewticket is aiming to establish an integrated experience network that bridges live events with broader sectors including tourism, hospitality, entertainment, and digital commerce.

As consumer preferences across African tech markets shift from digital products toward access-driven activities and community-focused experiences, infrastructure platforms like Fewticket reflect a maturing digital economy. By providing unified end-to-end tooling for creators and seamless access for consumers, the Cross River-born founder is focused on shaping how the continent discovers, accesses, and participates in live experiences.
