Mary Omolara Oluwafemi: The Singer, Composer and Music Director Combining Creativity and Leadership

By Our Reporter

Mary Omolara Oluwafemi is a versatile Nigerian singer, composer and music director whose career combines musical expression, creative direction and leadership.

Born in Lagos State on August 6, 1994, Mary is originally from Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State. Her educational journey began at Barachel Model College before she proceeded to Osun State University, graduating in October 2015.

Her pursuit of education later took her to the United Kingdom, where she studied for a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Sheffield Hallam University. She graduated with Distinction in 2024, adding a strong business background to her experience in the creative field.

Mary’s musical journey has been defined by her interest in several aspects of music. Rather than limiting herself to performance, she has developed experience as a singer, composer and music director, allowing her to participate in music from both creative and leadership perspectives.

As a singer, she uses her voice to communicate emotion and connect with audiences. Her work as a composer demonstrates another side of her creativity, giving her the ability to develop musical ideas and translate them into compositions.

Her experience as a Music Director during the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) also played an important role in developing her leadership abilities. Through the position, she was involved in coordinating musical activities, working with vocalists and musicians, organising rehearsals and helping to bring musical arrangements together for performances.

The combination of these experiences has given Mary an understanding of music that goes beyond the role of a performer. Her work as a composer allows her to contribute to the creation of music, while her experience as a music director enables her to influence how musical performances are organised and presented.

Over the years, she has continued to develop her experience through performances, collaborations and involvement in musical and creative activities. Her professional journey reflects an artist who continues to explore the relationship between music, leadership and personal development.

With an MBA from Sheffield Hallam University alongside her musical experience, Mary brings together creativity, education and leadership in a distinctive way. She continues to build her career with the goal of expanding her artistic reach and contributing to the music industry in the United Kingdom, Nigeria and internationally.
