IT House May 4 news, Ford CEO Jim Farley (Jim Farley) said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal recently,Ford has no plans to drop support for Apple CarPlay and Google android Auto support.
In an exclusive interview with host Joanna Stern, Farley said: “70% of Ford U.S. owners are Apple users, why should we make these Apple users unhappy? “
Foreign technology media MacRumors believes that car companies such as Tesla and GM have canceled support for Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto.On the one hand, it can collect and control the information of more car owners; on the other hand, it can also create new content profit points by building an independent ecology.
Farley said Ford is focusing on safety, security, autonomy and productivity features. IT Home translated part of his interview as follows:
In terms of content, we were the losers of that battle in 2010. We need to face up to and accept this failure: in-vehicle content cannot bring too much profit.
Ford will focus on safety, security, autonomy and productivity features. Therefore, the right to decide on the content should be left to the car owner himself. Unlike other automakers like GM and Tesla who want to have full control over what’s in the car, Ford doesn’t want to get involved.
