Four teens arrested after crashing stolen car into Pompano business to steal AR-15s, deputies say

Four teenagers are accused of stealing guns from a Pompano Beach business last week after they crashed into the building in a stolen car and then stole another car to flee the scene, authorities said.

The teens crashed a stolen white Kia Forte into the business near the 1300 block of Southwest First Court shortly before 3 a.m. April 21, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said. The teens, who are ages 16 and 17, stole three AR-15 semi-automatic rifles once inside the store.

WPLG-Ch. 10 reported that the business is a gun store. They drove off in a second stolen car — another Kia Forte, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives found the stolen car at a home in Oakland Park and while surveilling the house, watched two of the teens come out, each armed with rifles, and get into a black car, the Sheriff’s Office said. Detectives stopped the car and the two teens were arrested.

It is unclear when exactly they were arrested, but the Sheriff’s Office said it was within less than 15 hours after the burglary.

The Sheriff’s Office did not provide details about where the other two teens were arrested but said they were arrested shortly after the others. The third stolen AR-15 has not been found.

Each of the boys are facing one count of larceny-grand theft of a firearm, and charges stemming from the stolen cars and armed burglary are pending, the Sheriff’s Office said. It is unclear whether they will be charged as adults.

Authorities ask anyone with information on the incident or on where the third stolen AR-15 may be to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477, online at browardcrimestoppers.org or by dialing **8477 from any cellphone in the United States.

Any information that leads to an arrest is eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
