British artist and renowned art collector John Dunbar. Parallel to that, in 1965, he and Barry Miles launched the Indica Gallery. The gallery gained notoriety for showcasing avant-garde artists including the Boyle Family and Yoko Ono, both members of the Fluxus. At Indica, he met Yoko Ono, whom he then introduced to John Lennon. John Dunbar dances with wolves and was also referred to as John Dunbar Beatles.
Similar to how he became an artist after Indica broke up after only two years and showed work with Colin Self and Peter Blake. The artist served as a British Council exhibitions officer from 1969 to 1971. He also went to Basel’s International Symposium on LSD in January 2006, which celebrated the 100th birthday of LSD’s creator, Albert Hofmann. Together with Barry Miles and John Hopkins, Dunbar co-taught the course “LSD and Its Visual Effects.”
He presented an interview with Yoko Ono and a debate titled “INDICATIONS” as part of the Riflemaker Gallery’s participation in the remounting of Indica in Soho, London, the same year. Since the 1960s, Dunbar has employed a variety of mediums in addition to drawing and collage (especially in notebook settings), including sculpture and assemblage, photography, and video. A solo exhibition of his visual art took place in 2008, and a retrospective of it was shown in 2014.
