National Police Day: Anambra Command Joins Others Nationwide To Celebrate

The Anambra State Police Command on Tuesday, joined other Commands and Formations across the country in commemorating the 2026 National Police Day at Eagle Square, Abuja, a significant occasion set aside to recognise the dedication, sacrifices, and invaluable contributions of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining peace, law, and order in Nigeria.

The high-powered delegation from the Command, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Chong Mantu, in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, participated in the series of activities marking the celebration, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police.

The event according to the state police public relations officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in a statement, provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in policing, while reaffirming the commitment of the Force to professionalism, accountability, and improved service delivery.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu commended the resilience, courage, and discipline of officers in Anambra State, especially in the face of evolving security challenges. He emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration and community partnership as critical components in achieving sustainable security.

The Command also used the occasion to appreciate residents for their continuous support, cooperation, and credible information that have aided ongoing operations across the State. He further assured Ndi Anambra of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, as well as sustaining peace and security in all parts of the State.

The celebration featured ceremonial parades, honouring of police officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty, and other engagements aimed at strengthening police-community relations.

The Anambra State Police Command remains dedicated to advancing policing strategies that are intelligence-driven, people-friendly, and responsive to the needs of residents, Ikenga concluded.
