The Anambra State Government, has debunked a publication making the round that a structure collapse at the new Government House, describing the claims as false and misleading.
It was gathered that a report trending online said a structure within the new Government House collapsed following a heavy rainstorm on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
But in a statement issued on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the State governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Christian Aburime, the government described the reports as “mischievous” and intended to misinform the public.

Aburime clarified that no structure within the Government House premises was affected by the storm.
He explained that what was impacted were “a few partitions of the barricade barriers” located outside the Government House, approximately 20 metres from the perimeter fence.
According to him, the damage was caused by strong winds and thunderstorms that affected several parts of the state. He noted that private properties were also impacted during the incident.
The statement further disclosed that the Anambra Capital Territory Development Authority had mobilised to the site and commenced reconstruction work.
It added that additional engineering measures—including improved spacing to allow the free flow of strong winds—would be introduced to prevent a recurrence.
The government condemned what it described as the deliberate spread of fake news by “misguided elements,” accusing them of attempting to politicise a natural weather event.
It urged residents to disregard the reports and continue to support the administration’s development agenda.
