NUJ Cross River Trains BCS Youth in Effective Public Speaking

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Cross River State Council, has concluded a five-day intensive training programme on Public Speaking for young participants from the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS).

The training, aimed at equipping budding comperes with essential communication skills, covered key aspects of public speaking, including confidence building, audience engagement, and speech structure.

Resource person, Uduakikang Obeten Okorn, Director of News and Current Affairs at the Cross River Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC), said, “Public speaking is not about perfection but authenticity and connection.”

Okorn noted that many individuals experience anxiety symptoms when speaking in public, but with structured training and practice, these inhibitions can be overcome.

Her Eminence Grace-Magdalene Arikpo, International Mother and National Coordinator, BCS IMOCAMBO, encouraged participants to use their voices responsibly to inspire positive change in society.

NUJ Cross River State Council Chairman, Comrade Archibong Bassey, described the initiative as part of its commitment to youth development and communication excellence.

Participants praised the training as timely and transformative, and were presented certificates of participation by His Holiness, Olumba Olumba Obu, spiritual leader of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star.
