Soludo's wife begins training of 6,000 Anambra women on carpentry, painting, tricycle repairing, others

Wife of the Anambra State governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has flagged off training of 6000 Anambra women on various skills acquisition programme in the state.

The training tagged;”Anambra Skilled Ladies Training Program” an initiative of the governor’s wife NGO, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo’s Initiative commence the first phase of training with 100: women in a low key ceremony held at SSG conference hall Light House Awka, on Friday.

Organizers including the state commissioner for health, Dr Afam Obidike have clarified that this is just the first batch of a multi-phase program, adding that women who applied but were not selected this round are encouraged to remain expectant, as subsequent lists will be released in the near months.

In her opening address, the first lady said the program aimed to shatter professional stereotypes and equip women with high-demand technical skills.

She said her mission is to ensure Anambra women becomes self-reliance in the future.

According to her, “Today’s event holds a distinct position in the heart of our history as a non-governmental crusade.

” This one celebrates women in the most practical way. Remarkably, we are in a month that has been globally dedicated to appreciating the uniqueness, beauty, and resilience of womanhood.

“So, consider this my own gift of love and support to all of you for being purposeful women. The idea of Anambra Skilled Ladies Program struct like a divine providence, and I’m super grateful that we’re finally here to kick off this amazing journey.

“Anambra Skilled Ladies Program is a well-designed entrepreneurial package that offers young women the opportunity to learn and prosper through high-demand lucrative skills.

“It would interest you to note that a few months ago, when the application portal for this program was opened, we received over ten thousand submissions in just one week. Our earlier plan was to start off with fifty trainees, but moved by your passion and keen interest, we had no choice but to double the figure. You all are here today, not by chance, because our screening process was strict and rigorous. You are here because you have shown considerable passion and the right willingness to make a change. So I expect you to stick to the very mindset that got you here and make this lifetime opportunity count and count very well.

“Your training has been designated across four important departments: Solar and CCTV Installation and Repairs, AC Repair and Maintenance, Tricycle (Keke) Repair, and Painting. The total course duration is two months; one month for practical classes and an extra one month for internship. Depending on your department, you will be directly monitored and supervised by your trainers, while an independent team will be set up to follow up on your day-to-day development. Classes are strictly in-person, and you are required to achieve at least 98% of class attendance to be certified. Note that any trainee who flouts the rules of the program will be automatically disqualified and replaced.

“My dear great women, what we are giving you today is a platform to succeed. In these skills environment, evidently dominated by men, we want you to bring uniqueness and excellence to the field. We want you to become a beacon of hope and faith for your families, communities, and our dear state and beyond. We want you to be the best and nothing short of it.

“Whatever challenge you meet in the course of this program, don’t lose the motivation. Let resilience drive your everyday tasks. Show seriousness and dedication to your projects, and respect your trainers and fellow trainees. Most importantly, work like a family and avoid division and unhealthy competition. I have 100% trust and faith in all of you, and I want you to make me proud.

“Let me also specially commend our trainers for extending a hand of true partnership to us in this life-changing quest. We are handing these ladies into your care, mentorship, and tutelage. Please, take good care of them. We are counting highly on you to mould them with patience, dedication, and professionalism.

“Let their development and success be your primary objective. Give us the best! I wish to, once again, congratulate all our trainees for coming this far. You are just a few steps away from a perfect milestone. I’m sincerely counting on you.

“Go out there and flourish. From the deepest part of my heart, I wish you all the very best,” Mrs Soludo concluded.
