Woman groped, punched by strangers while riding Manhattan MTA bus with 5-year-old son

A woman riding a Manhattan MTA bus with her young son was punched by two strangers after one of them groped her, police said Wednesday.

The 45-year-old victim was standing with her 5-year-old son on a BX19 approaching Lenox Ave. and W. 145th St. in Harlem when a man sitting down near her grabbed her buttocks about 8:40 a.m. April 10, police said.

She responded by slapping his hand away, prompting an older woman the man was riding with to punch the victim. The woman may have been unaware what the man had just done, cops said. The man then also punched the woman.

The victim got off the bus with her son at Lenox Ave. and reported the incident to police. She was not injured.

Cops released a surveillance image of the suspects taken from inside the bus and asked the public’s help identifying them and tracking them down.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
