The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on General Duties, Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba, has flagged off the distribution of Ramadan and Lenten food palliatives organized by the City Boy Movement for residents across the state, with a call on members to remain united and mobilize support for the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event, held at the City Boy Movement State Secretariat, Marian, Calabar, featured the distribution of food items to members of the movement as well as representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Catholic faithful, and the Muslim community, in the spirit of love, sacrifice, and religious harmony observed during the Ramadan and Lenten seasons.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba commended the leadership of the City Boy Movement for sustaining humanitarian outreach programmes and urged members to remain committed to the ideals of the movement, which he said include grassroots mobilization and political support for the party.

He stated that the movement was formed not only to promote unity and social support but also to galvanise grassroots backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, and all APC flag bearers in the forthcoming 2027 elections.

“This initiative by the City Boy Movement is highly commendable because it reflects the spirit of compassion and sacrifice which both Ramadan and Lent represent. Beyond this, the movement must continue to stay strong and united as a political family. We must remain committed to mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our Governor Senator Bassey Edet Otu, and all our party’s candidates as we prepare for the 2027 elections. With unity and dedication, victory is assured,” he said.

Also speaking, the State Director of the City Boy Movement, Mr. Eyo Ita Okon, said the distribution formed part of the group’s continuous effort to support members and the larger community while also strengthening the structure of the movement across the state.
“The City Boy Movement is not only about politics, it is about people. We believe in standing with our members and the public at all times, especially during important seasons like Ramadan and Lent. At the same time, we remain committed to mobilising massive grassroots support for President Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu, and all APC flag bearers as we move towards 2027,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Angela Ojong, thanked the organizers for the timely intervention, noting that the support would go a long way in helping families during the fasting period.

“I am grateful to the City Boy Movement for remembering us at this time. This food will really help my family during the fasting season. We appreciate Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba and the leadership of the movement for this kind gesture, and we pray God continues to bless them,” she said.

The event attracted members of the City Boy Movement, religious leaders, community stakeholders, and party supporters, as the group reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian service, grassroots mobilisation, and strengthening support for the APC leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
