The Executive Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Echezona Anazodo, has outlined a bold vision for Nnewi markets in alignment with the urban renewal agenda of Anambra State Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo. Addressing a town hall meeting during the Nnewi community’s monthly gathering on Sunday, Hon. Anazodo stressed that the governor has provided a clear roadmap for the actualization of his administration’s development agenda, in which urban regeneration remains a central priority.

Speaking on the challenges of urban renewal in Nnewi, Anazodo said  that the town cannot afford to lag behind other parts of Anambra State.

He noted that ongoing efforts within the markets – particularly the reconstruction of some shops are consistent with the governor’s urbanization agenda.

The Chairman further observed that the proliferation of illegal structures in the markets, in clear violation of the master plan, remains a significant concern, adding that this issue will be decisively addressed.

A few weeks ago, the Local Government Chairman flagged off a farmers’ empowerment initiative. According to official records of the local government, over 400 farmers have benefited from the distribution of improved seedlings and other forms of support.

The Chairman reiterated during the town hall meeting that the initiative will be sustained to strengthen agricultural productivity in Nnewi and enhance food sufficiency in the commercial and industrial hub.

Furthermore, Mr. Anazodo highlighted several of his administration’s interventions in the health sector and in waste management across Nnewi North LGA.

He pledged to intensify these efforts, drawing admiration and appreciation from members of the community.
