Gov Soludo's free education policy has come to stay in Anambra - Education Commissioner

The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Hon Dr Ekene Ogugua Longinus, has said that the free education policy of governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo-led administration to students of public secondary schools in the state has come to stayed.

He said the policy has listed Anambra as one of the most learned state in Nigeria.

Longinus who disclosed this while briefing Journalists at his office in Awka, on Friday, June 6th, 2026, affirmed that Governor Soludo has performed remarkably well in the state’s education sector.

According to him, what the governor has done in all sectors of the State economic, particularly, in a education sector, has never been witnessed since the creation of the State in 1991.

“His administration’s strides are evident in large-scale infrastructure overhauls, digital learning initiatives, and significant student and teacher development programmes.

“The free education policy cut across tribe, ethnic and religion affiliations. It’s for all Anambra residents.

“The policy has has come to stayed. Is a gesture or something regarded as so holy, valuable and very important that it cannot be changed, questioned, or violated by any subsequent administrations.

“The regeneration and commissioning of massive education projects across the 179 communities; “the upgrading of public schools, modern vocational centers, sports arenas, award of scholarship to best graduating students of Chukwuemeka Odumegewu Ojukwu University and recruitment of over 8,150 teachers is an attestation that truly the governor is working round the clock to ensure he actualize his vision of making Anambra a destination hub of Nigeria by 2070.

“His administration has continue to push digital innovation and teacher capacity-building, integrating tablet-based lessons and teacher tracking to boost learning outcomes and tackle out-of-school numbers in Anambra streets. He has standardize learning environments across all districts, prioritizing merit-based leadership in schools.

“School rehabilitation projects are also ongoing across the state.

“Soludo’s free education policy has opened windows of opportunities as evidenced by the upsurge in school enrolment of pupils and students in the state public schools.

“The free access to quality education would equip the beneficiaries with the necessary tools to excel and take their destinies into their hands.

“It will ensure effective use of their talents for all round development and progress.

“The policy has breakdown the cycle of social and economic barriers as well as poverty in many homes in Anambra State, therefore, we will ensure it remains sacrosanct in the sector,” the Commissioner concluded.
