The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to eradicating cultism among its students, stating that the Polytechnic maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards cultism.
Awuzie disclosed this while speaking with Journalists at the 1st anniversary Thanksgiving Mass of the VIce Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegewu Ojukwu University (COOU) Igbariam, Prof Kate Azuka Omenugha/her husband’s Dr Michael Omenugha (Ichie Obama)’s 70th birthday celebration, held at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church Nnobi, in Idemili North Local Government Area of the State, on Sunday, July 19th, 2026.
She attributed her administration’s success in maintaining a cultism-free institution and a peaceful academic environment to the synergy between the Anambra State government, security personnel, management, students, and other relevant stakeholders.

She reassured the Polytechnic community that her administration remains committed to ensuring the safety of all students and staff.
According to her, “As a Polytechnic, we have our unique strategies. Since cultism is a security issue, our strategies remain dynamic in the fight against the menace.
“Our security architecture is perfectly working collaboratively with other security agencies in the state.
“We have a crop of responsible and responsive student bodies, a very effective Student Affairs Unit, and, of course, a zero-tolerance policy for cultism as a Federal Government Polytechnic.
“I can tell you that, “My administration is very cordial with the Anambra State government in all sectors of human services under the able leadership of governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, she added.
The Rector while congratulating Prof Omenugha for her appointment as the 5th substantive Vice Chancellor of the Ojukwu Varsity, equally praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s ongoing efforts and strategies in tackling insecurity across Nigeria.
