The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Dr Ekene Ogugua Longinus, has expressed readiness to execute all the mapped out education policy of governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to better the education welfare of Anambra child.

Longinus who stated this while speaking to Journalists at his office in Awka, on Thursday, said the State Ministry of Education currently under his watch is set to unveiled “Teacher’s Code of Conduct handbook” for all the teachers in Anambra public schools.

He said the handbook would guide the teachers on how to handle and treat a faulty student without any form of public outcry. The handbook contained disciplinary laws that may lead to chronic action against any eering teacher and student as the case may be.

According to him, “the policy is in line with the governor’s agenda of resuscitating public school system in Anambra state.

“As you know, Anambra now has almost zero per cent of out-of-school children in Nigeria. This is a testament to the present administration’s commitment to quality education which is why we are seriously against any form of physical assault on Anambra school child, hence, my major priority.

“We want the teachers to be nurturing our school children and not to abuse them, especially, the less privileged ones.

“We prefer the teachers to create other means of punishing any faulty student, like subjecting he/her into reading a large page of textbook in isolated staff-room throughout the school hours than assaulting he/her to the point of public notice.

This is an addition to the already existing priorities the governor have invested in Anambra education sector and it has yielded great results to the seeing and hearing of every resident in the state.

The Commissioner used the briefing to announced that the Ministry would soon commence arrest and sanctioned of any teacher that have resume sit-at-home on Mondays again.
