Onwuelingo, who was represented at the event by Chief Chineye Ezeagu, said the company has consistently backed various sporting events across the state, noting that the partnership will aligned with the company’s preventive healthcare philosophy if fully implemented by Soludo’s led-administration in the state.
According to him, “When this idea was presented to us, we did not see just another football tournament. We saw an opportunity to promote healthy living, strengthen community bonds, and remind people that age should never be a barrier to living an active and fulfilling life.
“Looking at the players gathered here today, I do not just see footballers. I see fathers, entrepreneurs, professionals, artisans, public servants, and respected members of our communities.
“More importantly, I see men who have chosen not to let age define their strength, their passion, or their ability to inspire others. That is something worth celebrating.
“Football has always been more than a game. It teaches discipline, teamwork, resilience, respect, and sacrifice. Those values are just as important in our homes, our businesses, and our communities as they are on the football pitch.
“At Patricklingo Pharmaceutical Limited, we believe our responsibility goes beyond producing medicines. We believe in supporting initiatives that help people stay healthy in the first place. Good health begins with the choices we make every day. It begins with staying active, taking care of ourselves, looking out for one another, and building stronger communities. That is why supporting this tournament was an easy decision for us.
“Our hope is that this competition will inspire more people across Anambra State to embrace physical activity, regardless of age. We want more people to understand that healthy living is not something we pursue only when we fall sick. It is a commitment we make every day.
“We also wanted this tournament to reflect excellence. That is why Patricklingo Pharmaceutical Limited has committed a prize pool worthy of the commitment these teams have shown. The champions will receive Two Million Naira (₦2,000,000). The runners-up will receive One Million Naira (₦1,000,000). The third-place team will receive Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦500,000).
These prizes are not simply rewards for winning matches. They recognise dedication, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. More importantly, they reflect our commitment to supporting community football and encouraging initiatives that bring people together.
“To every team participating in this tournament, I encourage you to compete with passion, determination, and respect. Play to win but play with honour. When the final whistle is blown, only one team will lift the trophy, but everyone who takes part will have contributed to something much bigger. You will have strengthened friendships, promoted healthy living, and shown younger generations that discipline and fitness have no age limit.
“I also wish to sincerely appreciate the referees, match officials, medical personnel, volunteers, security agencies, and everyone working tirelessly behind the scenes. Your commitment and professionalism have made today’s event possible, and we are truly grateful for your service.
“I My hope is that years from now, this tournament will be remembered not only for the football that was played or the prizes that were won, but for inspiring healthier lifestyles, bringing communities together, and proving that passion for the game does not grow old.
On behalf of the Board, Management, and Staff of Patricklingo Pharmaceutical Limited, I thank the Government of Anambra State, the Anambra State Football Association, our partners, the participating teams, our supporters, and everyone who has contributed to making today a success, Onwuelingo concluded.
Commenting on the development, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Patrick Agha Mba, while commending the company for the hosting, described the event as a shared commitment to promoting healthy living and active lifestyles.
