The Cross River State Government’s unwavering commitment to grassroots security and sustainable development received yet another boost as the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Chief Victor Felix Idem, paid an inspection visit to the ongoing construction of the Anantigha Police & Anti-Cultism Station and Barracks in Calabar South Local Government Area.
The Commissioner was warmly received at the project site by the Executive Chairman of Calabar South Local Government Council, Pst. Hon. Patrick Archibong, alongside members of the Local Government Executive Council, including the Council Secretary, Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Director-General of Services and Administration (DGSA), Director of Finance and Supplies (DFS), Supervisors, Special Advisers, Personal Assistants, Directors and Heads of Departments.
Conducting the Commissioner around the expansive project, the Executive Chairman explained that the facility is strategically designed to strengthen security architecture within Anantigha and adjoining communities by providing a modern operational base for the Police and Anti-Cultism Unit in the fight against cultism, violent crimes, kidnapping and other criminal activities.

Expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, Chief Victor Felix Idem described the project as massive, timely and highly impressive, noting that it reflects the practical implementation of the development blueprint of the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Apostle Prince Bassey Edet Otu, at the grassroots.
According to the Commissioner, the project stands as a clear demonstration of visionary leadership and responsible governance, adding that the Governor’s desire to create safer communities and eliminate violence, kidnapping and other social vices is steadily becoming a reality through purposeful initiatives such as the Anantigha Police & Anti-Cultism Station.
“This is indeed a massive and impressive project. It is gratifying to see the Executive Chairman translating the Governor’s development blueprint into tangible results. The vision of His Excellency is to ensure that our communities are safe and secure, and this project is a bold step towards curbing violence, kidnapping, cultism and other criminal activities within Calabar South,” the Commissioner remarked.
He commended Pst. Hon. Patrick Archibong for prioritising the welfare and security of the people, stressing that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and public safety.
Responding, the Executive Chairman expressed gratitude to Governor Senator Apostle Prince Bassey Edet Otu for his unwavering support for local governments across the state and appreciated the Commissioner for personally assessing the progress of the project.
Pst. Hon. Patrick Archibong reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to complement the State Government’s security agenda through strategic infrastructure and people-oriented projects that enhance public confidence, strengthen law enforcement and guarantee lasting peace across Calabar South.
The inspection visit concluded with members of the Executive Council reaffirming their collective commitment to delivering impactful projects that align with the Governor’s “People First” philosophy and accelerate sustainable development throughout Calabar South Local Government Area.
