Hon. Oden Ewa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for the Central Senatorial District, has urged the people of Etung Local Government Area to remain focused and reject any attempts to distract them from supporting the party’s candidates in the coming elections, declaring that “this is not a time to negotiate or play with our future.”
Speaking during a visit to Prince Ebuta Ayuk at his country home in Effraya on Friday to celebrate the Etung New Yam Festival, Hon. Oden Ewa stressed that the forthcoming polls rank among the most important in the state’s recent history because they are being “threatened by people who do not mean well for our people.”
“We will not throw away our votes. Those votes are very important to us. Those votes are our own tool. We must leverage those votes and we must turn up the highest number of votes ever produced in Etung,” he said.

The APC senatorial hopeful called on the people of Etung to vote massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, himself for the Senate, Hon. Blessing Egbara for the House of Representatives, and Hon. Kingsley Erim for the House of Assembly.
He noted that the APC remains “the only party that is progressive in this country” and is putting in place structures to drive the economy. While acknowledging that some gains may not yet be visible materially, he assured supporters that “a lot is ongoing.”
Hon. Oden Ewa also highlighted the visit of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to Calabar, where she presented N25 million each to victims of the SPAR fire incident on behalf of the President. He described the gesture as evidence that Cross River State is “rightly in the centre” and must remain there.
“We are on the right path and we must continue and sustain the progress we have made on that path,” he said, urging the people to continue working for the APC.
Earlier, the coordinator of the APC Central Alliance in Etung introduced Ewa as the “incoming Senator of Central Senatorial District,” emphasizing that his political bedrock lies in the local government. The coordinator credited the endorsement of the grand patron of the APC Central Alliance, Prince Ebuta Ayuk, declaring that in Etung, “we don’t know any other person than Oden Ewa.”
