Grassroots political leaders in Etung Local Government Area have thrown their full weight behind Hon. Oden Ewa as the preferred candidate for the Cross River Central Senatorial District in the 2027 elections, declaring that he remains the only choice they recognise in the area.

Speaking in Effraya on Friday, during the Etung New Yam Festival celebration at the country home of Prince Ebuta Ojong Ayuk, grand patron of APC Central Alliance, the grassroots leaders affirmed their unflinching support for Hon. Oden Ewa.

“My happiness today is that before he’s emergence in 2027, we are believing that his bedrock is Etung local government area,” one of the leaders said. “Because this is where we have the grand patron of APC Central Alliance, Prince Ebuta Ayuk. So we started with you, and we are going to end with you. We believe that in you, Central will see the light. The days of agony have come and gone. Today, we shall possess our possession.”

The Councillor representing Urban Ward reinforced the position and declared that: “In Etung local government, we don’t know any other person than Hon. Oden Ewa. If you know Prince Ebuta Ojong Ayuk in Etung, if he says this is my footstep, that is his footstep. And today, he has directed us that Oden Ewa is the incoming Senator. And we are there with him.”

Responding to the endorsement, Hon. Oden Ewa thanked the leaders and the people of Etung for their warm reception and continued loyalty to the APC. He described the party as the only progressive force in the country that is building structures to drive the economy.

The APC Senatorial Candidate highlighted the intervention by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who visited Calabar on Friday to sympathise with victims of the SPAR fire incident and provided N25 million to each affected business owner on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He said the gesture signified Cross River’s place at the centre of national attention.

Ahead of the upcoming polls, Hon. Oden Ewa urged the people of Etung to vote massively for President Tinubu, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, himself as senatorial candidate, the House of Representatives candidate Hon. Blessing Egbara, and the House of Assembly candidate Hon. Kingsley Erim.

According to him, “These coming elections will be the most important elections ever in our recent history. The reason is because we have people who do not mean well for our people vying for public office. People who do not know us, people who do not mean well for our state.”

He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the grand patron of the APC Central Alliance and other party leaders, Etung would deliver its strongest results yet. He assured the youth of continued engagement and pledged to return soon to update them on ongoing programmes, while urging them to maintain peace and keep working for the APC.
