The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has congratulated Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on his appointment as the Anambra State coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign council.
The party also reaffirmed its support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, declaring that it would not field a presidential candidate in the 2027 general election.
APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, describing Soludo’s appointment as recognition of his leadership qualities and commitment to progressive ideals.
Opara said the appointment reflected Soludo’s advocacy for strategic cooperation between APGA and the Federal Government for the benefit of Anambra State and the South-East.
He recalled that APGA had adopted Tinubu as its consensus presidential candidate at its National Executive Committee meeting and during the President’s working visit to Anambra State on May 8, 2025.
According to him, the party’s decision not to field a presidential candidate in 2027 is consistent with its earlier resolution to support Tinubu.
The party said its political alignment with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was rooted in what it described as shared progressive ideals and had facilitated federal collaboration on infrastructure and economic development in Anambra State.
“Progressives are working together,” the statement said, describing the slogan as an expression of the party’s ideological affinity with the progressive movement at the federal level.
APGA, however, maintained that it would retain its political identity in Anambra State and contest legislative elections under its own platform.
“In Anambra, it is Tinubu for President, APGA for Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly,” the party declared.
The party expressed confidence that Soludo’s intellectual capacity, organisational skills and political influence across the South-East would help mobilise support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 election.
