As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Cross River State, the re-election bid of Governor Bassey Otu and Deputy Governor Peter Odey received a significant boost following a formal endorsement from the Concerned Civil and Public Servants (CIPLUS) group.
The group declared its full support during a solidarity visit to the Governor, asserting that the administration’s performance over the past term positions the joint ticket for victory in the upcoming gubernatorial polls.
Led by its Chairman, Mr. Essien Eyo Essien, and Secretary, Mr. Bisong Agbe, the delegation highlighted several key achievements of the administration as the foundation for their endorsement. Chief among these milestones were the recovery of the iconic Tinapa Business Resort from the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) back to state control, significant improvements in healthcare delivery, particularly at the primary healthcare level, the expansion and rehabilitation of road networks across the state, and the prompt payment of outstanding pensions and gratuities to retired civil servants.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Essien expressed the group’s gratitude for the administration’s worker-friendly policies and developmental projects.
“We are here to register our appreciation for all the good works the governor has done so far, including payment of gratuities and pensions to our retirees, improvement of healthcare system and road networks, and several other things,” Essien said. “Because of these achievements, we therefore want to openly commit to work tirelessly for the re-election of our dear governor, Bassey Edet Otu, as we prepare for the 2027 governorship election.”
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Governor, the Chief of Staff, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, commended CIPLUS for recognizing the administration’s milestones, noting that the gesture would further energize the government to deliver on its mandate.
“I appreciate all of you for coming out to appreciate the good work of the governor. This is a morale booster, and I promise you that this gesture will go a long way to inspire the governor to do more,” Ironbar stated.
“The achievements of the governor are clear and loud enough for all to see. If you look at the areas of security, road network, healthcare system, and even the recovery of our important state assets, you will really appreciate the governor,” he added.
Ironbar urged the team to sustain its advocacy across the state to foster continued development and support for the administration’s governance agenda.
