2027: Hon. Oden Ewa secures overwhelming support at enlarged stakeholders meeting in Etung

Party chieftains and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Etung Local Government Area, on Saturday, converged in large numbers at the Effraya country home of Prince Ebuta Ayuk to reaffirm their support for Hon. Oden Ibiang Ewa, the party’s candidate for the Cross River Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The gathering drew party faithful, government appointees, members of the Cross River State Executive Council and APC executives from across the LGA. Speakers took turns to eulogize Hon. Ewa, describing him as the collective choice of the people and pledging to deliver overwhelming votes for him and other APC candidates.

Hon. Prince Ebuta Ayuk, former Special Adviser to the Presidency and Grand Patron of the APC Central Alliance in Etung, described Hon. Oden Ewa as “the people’s overwhelming choice” for the Central Senatorial District seat. Prince Ayuk, who also presented a campaign secretariat to the candidate on behalf of Etung stakeholders, said Ewa’s track record of grassroots engagement and loyalty to the party made him the right person to represent the zone in the Senate.

Dr. Kuti Inok Ebak, former Chairman of Etung Local Government Area, said the people of Etung and the entire Central Senatorial District are “pleased with the nature of this candidate.” According to Ebak, Hon. Ewa has demonstrated consistency, accessibility and a genuine commitment to the development of the Central zone.

Mrs. Victoria Egba Njah, Public Relations Officer to the Governor of Cross River State, said women in Etung would mobilize massively to support the re-election of Governor Bassey Edet Otu, Hon. Oden Ewa for Senate and all other APC candidates in 2027.

“The women of Etung are ready. We will move from house to house, community to community, to ensure APC wins landslide in the next election,” Njah said.

Ntufam Gabe Odu Orji, former member of the Cross River State Executive Council, said the political tide in the Central Senatorial District is in favour of the APC and Hon. Oden Ewa. He urged party members to remain united and to vote APC “at all strata” in the 2027 elections, stressing that the focus should be on candidates who have the capacity to attract federal presence to the zone. He noted that despite speculations about an Etung son contesting for President, the priority of Etung people remains the governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly seats.

The meeting featured goodwill messages, encomiums and pledges from individuals, youth groups and women groups who promised to work for the success of Hon. Ewa’s senatorial bid. Stakeholders maintained that Cross River Central must remain in the APC column to sustain the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the “People First” agenda of Governor Bassey Otu in the state.

The Etung meeting forms part of ongoing consultations and mobilisation by APC stakeholders in the Central Senatorial District to consolidate support and deliver maximum votes for the party in 2027.
