LG Service Commission Appointees Pledge Grassroots Transformation, Thank Gov Otu

The newly inaugurated Cross River State Local Government Service Commission has pledged to overhaul grassroots administration, promising a new era of professionalism and accountability across the 18 local government areas.

In a statement issued in Calabar at the weekend, the Commission’s Chairman, Barr. Eyo Nsa Ekpo, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Bassey Edet Otu for the appointments. Speaking on behalf of the board, Ekpo described the selection as a “great honour and a call to service,” noting that it underscores the Governor’s dedication to institutional reform.

The Commission described the local government system as the most critical tier of government due to its proximity to the citizenry. The leadership emphasized that their primary focus would be turning the commission into a robust platform for delivering development and essential public services to the rural areas.

“The Governor’s decision to constitute this Commission demonstrates his commitment to strengthening governance institutions and ensuring efficiency within the local government administration,” the statement read.

Addressing the expectations of the public, the appointees assured both the Governor and the people of Cross River that they would discharge their duties with “diligence, integrity, and a strong sense of public duty.”

The board further pledged to foster a collaborative environment, working closely with relevant authorities and stakeholders to instill a culture of professionalism and accountability in the state’s local government service.

The Chairman also acknowledged the overwhelming goodwill received from the public since the announcement. According to the board, the support from the citizens serves as a vital encouragement as they begin the task of reforming the administrative landscape of the state.

The newly constituted Commission is comprised of Barr. Eyo Nsa Ekpo (Chairman), Dr. Ekeng Effiom Edet, Dr. Emmanuel Itakui Ntuyan, and Dr. Godwin Ondale Akpor.

Others are Hon. Obia Lawrence Bassey, Hon. Rita Ayim, and Hon. John Olom Otu.
