2027: "We will wait for governor's directive before making any decision," Iboku bloc tell Rep Akiba

The Iboku political bloc in Odukpani local government area of Cross River State on Sunday informed the House of Representatives member, representing Odukpani/Calabar Municipality federal constituency that they have to wait for a directive from governor Bassey Otu before taking a definite position on who to support.

Leaders of the bloc made the statement during a stakeholders meeting called at the instance of Hon. Bassey Akiba to intimate them of his desire to return to the green chambers.

Speaking during the meeting, a one-time chairmanship aspirant, Dr. Inyang Inyang and a former chairman of the local government,  Mrs Justina Edem said, “while we commend you for this noble idea of calling us for meeting to intimate us of your account at the house, as loyal party men and women, we like to inform you that we will wait for a directive from the leader of the party in the state who is also our dear governor before making any decision as long as this decision is concern.”

Earlier, Representative Bassey Akiba acknowledged the forthrightness of members of Iboku bloc and appreciated their support and patience with him.

“I want to sincerely appreciate your support to me within the past three years. But let me assure you that if by the grace of God I am able to secure the party ticket for 2027, I assure you that I will do better than what I have done,” Akiba said.
