Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have rescued a 15-year-old pregnant girl and arrested a suspect in connection with her alleged defilement.
The arrest was made when Police operatives attached to Achalla Divisional Police Headquarters, Awka, acting on credible intelligence, raided a location around St. Paul’s Secondary School, Achalla, on Wednesday this week.
A Statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga emphasises that during the operation, the team rescued the minor and arrested one Tochukwu Nwora.

The statement reveals that the middle-aged man who was found in an compromising position with the girl during the arrest was immediately taken into protective custody.
Further probes by the police show that the girl had allegedly been repeatedly defiled by several adult males at different times in Nando, Nteje, and Achalla communities who allegedly exploited her vulnerability by giving her paltry sums of money.
The Police statement indicates that the victim had been taken to the Police Hospital in Awka, where medical examinations on her has commenced
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikoye Orutugu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a more comprehensive investigation.
