The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Clem Aguiyi, has asserted that the people of the State would sustained governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s legacy of making Anambra a clean, green and sustainable environment for residents and visitors after leaving office.
Aguiyi gave the assertion while speaking with journalists at his office in Awka on Tuesday, in preparation ahead of Saturday’s July 4th, 2026 statewide environmental sanitation exercise.
He said the Ministry under his watch is working tirelessly to ensure that it provide an enabling environment for resident and investors to strive in the state.

According to him, we will ensure that the advocacy for a clean and green environment is sustained across the 179 communities that constitute the State.
“It is necessary for all residents to subscribe to a clean, green, and sustainable Anambra by changing their attitudes towards the environment.
“Governor Soludo intention is to make Anambra a destination hub of Nigeria, which is why Environment is the 5th pillar of his administration.
“Anambra have a serious environmental crisis in almost all the communities that constitute the state.
“Soludo is building a smart city that is resilience in the sense that will absorb the challenges of climate change and other environmental crisis.
“30 percent of our land has been taken over by erosion, and as a result of this, the state government is launching what we called “Erosion Information Desk” where the public are advised to report issues concerning erosion threats in their various communities.
“We are also establishing “Environmental Academic, where we will train people at the local level practically on how to response to environmental emergency in their separate areas.
“The present administration is determined to work with every section of the population to make sure they get the environment right.
The Commissioner used the briefing to also informed the Anambra residents that the statewide environmental sanitation exercise announced by governor Soludo remain sacrosanct, adding that they will be a locked down across the state between 6am-10am and all the 179 communities are mandated to participate.
