The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has cleared all the 21 local government chairmanship and 346 councillorship seats in the just concluded Local Government election in Anambra State.
This was made known to journalists by the chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), Mrs Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe, while announcing the result at the Commission’s headquarters in Awka on Sunday.
According to Osakwe, all the candidates of APGA have been officially declared winners as Councilors and Executive Council Chairmen-elects.

The elections took place across 362 electoral wards and 21 local government areas (LGAs) in Anambra State and it was conducted in a peaceful, free, fair, transparent and credible manner in line with the state electoral laws and guidelines.
Osakwe, noted that at the Anambra East Local Government Area where the Young Progressive Party YPP also participated in the process, the APGA candidate, Hon Ifeamyi Chinweze score a total of 50,169 votes to defeat the YPP candidate who scored 1, 658 votes.
The ANSIEC chairman appreciate the people of the State for having confidence on the Commission during the voting process.
She also commended the security agencies and the media for their immense support before, during and after electoral exercise.
In his brief reaction on behalf of other elected Mayors, the newly elected chairman of Ayamelum local government area, Hon Emmanuel Igwebuike, commended the State governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the Commission, the security agencies and the media for enduring a conducive environment during the election.
He promised to support the governor’s vision of making Anambra a livable and prosperous state in Nigeria by 2070.
