“The administration considers transparency and accountability essential components of governance,” Akiba stated. “This briefing is intended to provide citizens with factual information on projects, programmes, and the progress achieved across sectors.”
He maintained that the government’s accomplishments are multi-dimensional, touching virtually every aspect of governance including infrastructure, education, public administration, and resource management. He stressed that many completed projects are already operational and delivering tangible value to residents.
Presenting the infrastructure scorecard, the Special Adviser Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Raphael Murphy, highlighted extensive road construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance spanning hundreds of kilometers across the Southern, Central, and Northern Senatorial Districts.
He listed the ongoing development at the Obudu International Cargo Airport, where critical navigational equipment has already been installed, leaving only a few structural components before full operational commencement.
Murphy submitted that critical access roads, community concrete roads, and network roads within security formations and the Calabar Metropolis have been constructed and rehabilitated, adding that these projects crisscross Local Government Areas (LGAs) include Calabar Municipality, Calabar South, Odukpani, Akamkpa, Ikom, Yakurr, Obubra, Ogoja, and Obanliku.
He also disclosed that there have been heavy investments in institutional renovations, including the State Library Complex, the Local Government Service Commission headquarters, legislative residences, and the Governor’s Office.
The briefing also cast a spotlight on human capital development and fiscal responsibility. In the education sector, official records confirmed the completion of 49 primary school projects, alongside ongoing collaborative interventions with the Federal Government to upgrade learning environments.
On asset tracking and revenue, the Special Adviser on Assets Management and Recovery, Gilbert Agbor, outlined critical reforms aimed at recovering government assets, plugging financial leakages, and strengthening overall accountability.
“This administration’s main effort is geared towards sustainable development, improved service delivery, and long-term economic growth for the people of Cross River State,” Agbor noted.
Other key officials who presented brief scorecards detailing their respective sectoral milestones included Hon. Peter Egba (Special Adviser on Industry), Nkoyo Otu (Special Adviser on Inter-Party Affairs), and Hon. Ada Charles Egwu (Special Adviser on Community Relations).
The forum concluded by reaffirming the administration’s commitment to delivering sustainable economic growth and upgrading the living standards of all Cross River residents.
