The Anambra State Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has pledged to distribute 5000 packs of Hybrid Non-GMO seeds to residents interested in household gardening and subsistence farming. She said the initiative aims to boost healthy living, food sufficiency, and economic support for families across the state.
She said over 25,000 seed packs have already been distributed since 2024, while details of the new distribution process will soon be announced and that plans have been concluded to distribute 5,000 packs of hybrid Non-GMO seeds to passionate and interested farmers across the state.
She explained that the initiative is aimed at empowering residents to cultivate organic and healthy foods within their homes and communities.

According to her, each seed pack contains carefully selected varieties, including maize, green vegetables, cabbage, pepper, tomatoes, and okra.
Mrs Soludo noted that the programme is designed to help individuals and families grow nutritious food crops while also encouraging self-reliance and sustainable living.
“As I always explain, I strongly believe that embracing home gardening is not only a step towards healthy living, but also a practical pathway to food sufficiency and economic support for every household,” she said.
She further urged residents to work towards cultivating healthier homes, greener communities, and a more food-secure Anambra State.
“We can do that. I strongly believe that we can. Embrace this opportunity,” she added.
The governor’s wife, however, disclosed that details of the distribution process would be made public in the coming days, while urging interested residents to get prepared.
She also revealed that more than 25,000 packs of hybrid Non-GMO seeds has so far been distributed to farmers across the state since 2024.
