NYSC swears in 2300 corps members in Anambra

National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) on Friday, swore in 1500 corps members of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 set, deployed to Anambra for the one-year mandatory national service.

The State Coordinator, Mrs Pauline Ojisua, gave the number during the swearing-in ceremony at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South local government area of the State.

She said that the corps members comprised 1,080 males and 1,220 females, respectively.

According to her, the orientation course serves as the foundation of the corps members’ service year.

“Over the next three weeks, participants will go through a well-structured programme aimed at fostering discipline, patriotism, teamwork, and essential competencies for nation-building.

“I am pleased to report a remarkable turnout, with 2,300 Prospective Corps Members registered, consisting of 1,080 males and 1,220 females.

“All camp facilities and programmes have been fully put in place to ensure a smooth, well-organized, and impactful orientation experience.

“Ladies and gentlemen, discipline remains a core value of the NYSC Scheme. Through military drills, physical training, and sporting activities, Corps Members will build physical fitness, sharpen mental alertness, and strengthen teamwork. In addition, the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme will provide them with practical skills for self-reliance beyond the service year.

“Furthermore, all camp officials, security agencies, medical teams, and collaborating partners have been fully mobilized to ensure effective administration, welfare, and security throughout the duration of the programme.

“My dear compatriots, as you take your oath of allegiance today, I urge you to strictly adhere to all existing laws, NYSC regulations, and security guidelines, and to conduct yourselves as worthy ambassadors of your families, your institutions, and the nation at large.

“I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to the Anambra State Government for its consistent support in welfare and security of Corps members.

” I also acknowledge the NYSC State Governing Board, camp officials, partner agencies, host communities of Umuwulu/Mbaukwu as well as the media for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the success of the programme.

“To our esteemed prospective Corps Members, I warmly congratulate you on your deployment and welcome you to Anambra State. I wish you a fruitful Orientation Course and a fulfilling and impactful service year ahead, Mrs Ojisua concluded.

The State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo was represented at the event by Mr Ifeatu  Emodi

Hon justice A O Nwabunike administered the Oath of allegiance on behalf of the State Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Chukwulubelu.
