The management of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam, Anambra State, said it has mapped out plan to commence distance leaning programme.
The University Vice Chancellor, Prof Kate Azuka Omenugha, announced this during a press conference, held at the Varsity’s Conference, on Tuesday to commence her 16th Convocation ceremony scheduled to last for four days.
Omenugha said the programme which is part of the 3-Vs (Value, Visibility and Viability), of her administration will further project the University to be the best among 1000 public Universities in the World.

It is a clear evidence that the University under my watch, is committed and dedicated to migrating from analogue to digital through the strong support system of governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, who has pledged to make Anambra a digitalized state in Nigeria.
“This programme will run majorly via online and on-air learning. I want to create a roadmap for the future generation.
“I am working assiduously to ensure that Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University is listed among 1000 best Varsities in the world. I will ensure that the University is upgraded to International best standard.
“Under my watch, the University have gotting upto 200 professors, a functional radio station with 13: electricity transformers supply constant energy across the University community.
“For the past ten years now, the University has not increase her school fees. We maintain the status to proof a different. I want a University that can stand up for the future.
“We have also put in place another plan to establish entrepreneurial and business school within the University to create entrepreneurs,” the VC noted.
Further on the 16h Convocation, Prof Omenugha said the ceremony will start with Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Memorial Lecture scheduled to hold on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026 at the ETF Auditorium while award of decree to 3,554 successful undergraduates and postgraduate graduates from all the Varsity’s faculties will take place on Saturday, April 25th, 2026 respectively.
Omenugha explained that the four-day programme would provide an opportunity for graduates to receive their certificates.
The ceremony will also feature the conferment of honorary degrees to other distinguished Nigerians including the former governor of Anambra State, Sen Chris Ngige, Chief ABC Orjiakor, Philip Okojie, and others whose selfless investment in the University’s growth has left a mark that no certificate can fully capture.
“Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University warmly welcomes the general public to a remarkable celebration of excellence, legacy, and progress.
“We are also hosting two Ambassadors namely; Mr. Michal Cygan – the Ambassador of Poland to Nigeria, and Mr. Gautier Mignot – the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS.
