According to the Commissioner, the bridge if constructed will curbed the almost daily road crashes at the junction that also connected with the old Enugu-Awka-Onitsha expressway, office of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service AIRS and the state headquarters of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).
“The major concern of the Anambra State Ministry of Transport under my watch, is on that spot, because since my stayed in Awka from 2015 as a member of the State House of Assembly and chairman house committee on transportation, I have personally witnessed and recorded over 50 fatal road accident on that junction.
“We are urgently calling on the federal government to help our state (Anambra) construct the pedestrian as soon as possible because live has not spare.
“We are also appealing to the federal government to do same across junctions within the Awka capital territory which is geographically located in both side of the Enugu-Onitsha highway.
“We are equally suggested to the federal government to construct bicycle lane and walk lane for the less privilege ones.
“We are doing this to protect lives and property of our dear Anambra State, Ibuzo advocated.
He commended MTN Nigeria for the good work they are currently undergoing at the Eze-Uzu section of the Enugu-Onitsha highway, in which he expressed satisfaction that the project is 80 to 90 percent completion.
