…CRSG Threatens to Seal Peace Mass Transit Motor Park
By Sylvia Okoi
The June edition of the Cross River State monthly environmental sanitation exercise commenced on Saturday, 27 June 2026, with the newly inaugurated Environmental Task Force deployed across the state capital to enforce compliance with sanitation laws.
Speaking shortly after monitoring and supervising the exercise across major streets in the Calabar metropolis, the Commissioner for Environment, Obol Moses John Osogi, said the performance of the newly inaugurated task force demonstrated its readiness and competence in strengthening environmental sanitation enforcement across the state.
The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance recorded during the exercise, describing it as encouraging. He particularly commended residents of Calabar South for their consistent commitment to environmental cleanliness, noting that their impressive level of compliance reflected patriotism and loyalty to the state. He assured them that their efforts would be recognised and rewarded.

Obol Moses Osogi, however, frowned at the attitude of some motor park operators who violated the environmental sanitation regulations. He issued a stern warning to Peace Mass Transit for conducting operations during the sanitation exercise and condemned the hostile behaviour displayed by some of its staff when enforcement officials attempted to ensure compliance. The Commissioner warned that the motor park would be sealed for incessant disregard to the state’s environmental sanitation laws.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant on Environment, Dr. Magnus Ntui, described the June sanitation exercise as one of the most successful in recent times, attributing the high compliance level to increased public awareness.
According to him, “We no longer need to chase people to keep their surroundings clean. Residents are now consciously participating in the sanitation exercise, and this is commendable. It is a testament to the sustained public enlightenment efforts of the Ministry of Environment.”
Monitoring teams observed residents actively cleaning their surroundings across the state capital, while the Mobile Court prosecuted sanitation offenders to reinforce compliance with environmental laws.
