The periodic cultural carnival organized by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been described as an enduring commitment to national unity, integration and avenue to showcase the cultural heritage of Nigeria.
This assertion was made by the Anambra State NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Pauline Ojisua, during the 2026 Batch B Stream 1 Corps Members display of cultures of ten out of more than 250 ethnic nationalities in the country, held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka Local Government Area, on Saturday, June 27th, 2026.
According to her, the Carnival brings together our ten platoons to showcase the rich cultural diversity of Nigeria’s over 250 ethnic groups.
“Each platoon is representing a unique culture through displays of dance, cuisine, history, marriage customs, fashion, and more.

“Beyond celebration, this carnival is a powerful reminder of our collective strength.
“In appreciating our differences not as divisions, but as bridges, we affirm the unity that binds us as Nigerians.
“This gathering fosters understanding, breaks down stereotypes, and nurtures friendships that transcend ethnic lines.
“I commend the hard work and creativity of all participating Corps members and platoons. Your dedication in preparing for this event reflects the true spirit of the NYSC. My appreciation also goes to the Executive Governor of Anambra State Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
“To the Traditional rulers of our host communities, HRM Igwe Dr. Peter Nwokike Anugwu (Eze-Ukwu of Mbakuwu) and HRM Igwe Engr. Maduadichie Egwunwu (Eze-Udo II of Umawulu), we appreciate you for your continued fatherly support and guidance.
“Let us remember that the spirit of this carnival must extend beyond today. May the unity and respect we witness here inspire us to build a Nigeria where diversity is cherished, and every citizen is valued, the Coordinator advocated.
She also urged the corps members to look at the benefits of the Nigerian culture, harvest them and use them to develop self and the society at large.
The State governor, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo was represented at the ceremony by the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Ifeatu Emodi.
The Paradise News gathered that the result of the 2026 Batch B Stream 1 Cultural Carnival competition was won by platoon 10.
